Volunteers Celebrated at 2019 Volunteer Lunch

by Dori Medina

In the beautiful newly remodeled Palos Verdes Golf Club, this year’s Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon was one of the best–according to many who attended.  There was a refreshing air of friendliness and camaraderie among the attendees which included PVLD volunteers, Library Board of Trustees, Peninsula Friends of the Library Board members and staff –including Colleen Cotter, Executive Director–and library staffers–including library Director Jennifer Addington and new library Deputy Director, Ryan Roy.

This year the program included not only awards for the several volunteers who have given thousands of hours of volunteer service, but also awards for those who have given many years, sometimes decades, of consistent volunteer service.

Another new addition was hearing from library staffers Susan Fletcher, Circulation Manager, and Adan Becerra, Technical Services Asst. & Mail Room Clerk.  They both spoke about how volunteers have impacted their departments in positive ways.

And, of course, at the end of the program the raffle give-away was conducted by Volunteer Coordinator Dori Medina, Executive Assistant Tami Bender, and Deputy Director Ryan Roy,…all of whom made it enjoyable and funny! Thank you to all the volunteers who help make the Palos Verdes Libraries the such a wonderful community resource.
