You can help make lives better!

PFL invites you to support the Technology 2010 Project at the Palos Verdes Library District — a project that will enrich the lives of library users from toddlers to teens, to boomers to centenarians.

The Technology 2010 Project will provide a much needed bundle of technological improvements and upgrades for all three Peninsula libraries (Peninsula Center, Miraleste and Malaga Cove).

Let’s all come together as a community to provide the $45,000 needed to fully fund this project.*

It’s About Making Lives Better

The Technology 2010 Project isn’t about chips, wires, software or equipment.

  • It’s about an unemployed man or woman coming to the library and creating a resume and finding a job.
  • It’s about helping families work together and gather hundreds of years of their family histories.
  • It’s about adult children coming to the library and finding resources and answers to help their ailing parents.
  • It’s about people of all ages learning languages and other new skills.
  • It’s about grandparents emailing their grandchildren across the country and even across the world.
  • And about middle school and high school kids receiving tutoring and getting their homework done well and on time.
  • It’s about helping people start businesses, and providing resources to run them better.
  • And yes, with the Early Literacy Stations, it’s about 2 to 5 year-olds having fun while getting a boost with their literacy and math skills.

Technology 2010 Components

  • AWE (Advanced Workstation in Education) Early Literacy Stations — computers that are designed for use by young children and are pre-loaded with educational software.
  • Microform reader/printer for Peninsula Center — a crucial tool for research that accommodates both microfilm and microfiche.
  • Public access desktop computers with monitors — expanding the ability to serve this growing demand in our libraries.
  • Public and staff training room desktop computers — updating our center for computer-based training of patrons and staff.
  • Desktop computer furniture as needed.
  • Appropriate software, network connections and installation for all of the above.

* Donations in excess of our $45,000 target will be used for PVLD technology-related projects.
