“Welcome to our 2nd annual “One Book, One Peninsula” community-wide reading event. We invite everyone to share the experience of reading and discussing a single book. Lisa See’s Shanghai Girls expresses the complex bonds between sisters May and Pearl as they begin a new life in LA’s Chinatown. We encourage you to read and discuss the book with your friends, attend our international-themed events this summer, then hear Lisa See speak at Peninsula Center Library on September 25. Happy reading!”–Kathy Gould, Library Director
