Amazing Book Sales Monthly

Each year Peninsula Friends of the Library receives thousands of donated books, audio tapes, CDs, DVDs and records which we in turn resell to the public at our three libraries. The Friends host monthly weekend book sales at the main Peninsula Center Library and the Malaga Cove Branch. The Miraleste branch has used books available for sale inside the library. Thousands of books are also sold on the Internet. All profits benefit the Library and some books are also donated to schools and non-profit organizations like Books for Troops. Notable books are offered to the special collections of the Library.

Donate Your Books

The Friends welcome donations of gently used books, VHS and DVD videos, CDs, cassettes and records. These gifts will not only replenish our stock of merchandise for sale but also will recycle the items to other people for their enjoyment and benefit. They can be dropped off at any of the three libraries and a receipt will be provided for tax purposes (you assign a value to your contribution).

WE ACCEPT:

  • Fiction and non-fiction books in good condition (either paperback or hardback)
  • Videos (VHS and DVD)
  • Records

Books for Troops

Friends VP, Gene Roeder, stands next to the Book for Troops display. The Peninsula Friends of the Library has been sending books, videos, magazines and CDs to troops all over the world. Since 2004 we have sent over 76,000 items weighing more than 20 tons. They go to military hospitals, USO facilities, Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force units in 43 Countries.

A donation of $15 will send 40 books to our troops. Donations can be made to Peninsula Friends of the Library, Books for Troops and sent to Malaga Cove Library, 2400 Via Campesina, Palos Verdes Estates, CA 90274.

Donations of the various media can be dropped off at any of the three library locations and should be marked Books for Troops to distinguish them from our other donations. The most requested genres are: Science Fiction, Fantasy, Mysteries, Westerns and Adventure.

For additional information, call 310-377-9584, ext. 553 or e-mail at friends@pvldfriends.org.
