The election process is governed by Peninsula Friends of the Library Bylaws which require between 13 and 19 directors to serve on the board at any time. Board members are elected for a one-year term—January 1 through December 31. Bylaws call for nominations for election of Directors to be presented by a Nominating Committee, but nominations from the floor at the annual meeting will be invited, though no one may be nominated without his or her prior consent. PFL bylaws require approval of the majority of members in attendance at the annual meeting to elect board members for the new term. Board officers are elected by and from the elected directors at the first meeting of the new board, which will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017.
